Welcome to Redefining Normal! We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to assisting individuals and families impacted by mental illness from a holistic approach to build a productive and stable life. Redefining Normal was established in 2020 by Egbe Ojongmboh, a mental health champion with unwavering conviction to raise awareness and reduce stigma. We take pride in being the United States’ grassroots organization dedicated to creating a holistic resilient community of psychiatric survivors.
We understand that mental illness is one of the most prevalent public health conditions in the United States. In 2020, over 21% of American adults were suffering from mental disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, and disruptive behavior and dissocial disorders. We also understand that these conditions are highly stigmatized. Most communities place shame on people who live with mental illnesses and psychiatric survivors. As such, they struggle to get help, fit into society, or lead comfortable or happy lives. We established Redefining Normal to change this notion.
At Redefining Normal, we leverage a holistic approach toward mental health issues in the United States. Our focus is to promote healing and resilience while providing support. We run a spectrum of programs and causes aimed at creating awareness. Our programs also address the needs of psychiatric survivors and people with mental disorders. We promote healing through mindfulness and community building. We have monthly mixers where we educate on mental health and wellness topics. We rally the community to adopt early identification and intervention approaches and integrated care. We also provide resources, support, and advocacy to individuals and families affected by mental illnesses.
“To support individuals and families affected by mental health to become self-sufficient, achieve optimal health, and reconnect with loved ones and society.”
“To be a leader in promoting mental health healing through a holistic approach.”
We currently partner with Residential Care Facilities in Central Ohio to provide resources, supports, and advocacy to community members affected by mental illness and or addiction.
We aim not only to promote resiliency while redefining the norms associated with mental illness and addition. We promote healing through mindfulness and community building.
We promote strengthening communities through healing of the mind, body, and soul!
